Dark Void

Got my copy of Dark Void. Very interesting game if I must say so myself. Ill be writing up a full review later, but as of now, I can classify this game as the kind of mindless fun where you just go around beating the shit out of enimies. Its the game where you seem like you're having fun while playing and you fee like a lot happens. But then you look back and realize its only fun cause you have an awesome jetpack, and you really got nowhere in the game, cause you just ended up back where you started.

So follow up on this since I beat the game. Bottom Line, Its just missing a lot. i really dont even want to do a full review because of how disappointed I am in this game. Story line is very...just...out there. Very random to me, and the combat system is very unresponsive. I can end up looking at an enemy for 5 B button hits before I actually melee him. Also, combat power is very dysfunctional. I could waste a clip killing something, or just sprint up to it and one hit kill it with a melee attack. Jetpack is fun...for a while, f you could just fly around for a while thatd be fun, but you cant. Eh, this game is just basically all around bad. Dont buy it, dont rent it, dont even touch it. Truly a game that could have had lots of potential, but it just wasnt there.

Overall: 5/10

Gamplay Videos: Just sub to bigbig105

Army of Two: 40th Day

Total: 7/10

Got my copy of Army of Two: 40th Day yesterday and am enjoying it very much. From hearing bad reviews about the first Army of Two, I never played it, so I dont know if this is better that the first or not. The first thing I noticed was the Gears of War control scheme. It is just about exactly the same, and just finishing Gears of War 2 a few days ago, I was happy I was used to the control scheme. The two best things about this game so far: 1. The number of explosions. Holy fuck, you turn the corner, and something else will explode. 2. The number of enemies. There is no shortage at all, and the gameplay is very fast paced. Both of these elements combined into one game have made me a very happy man. But there are a few bad things. 1. The amount of cutscenes. Way too many, whether its showcasing a new area, new enemy, opening a door, or something else exploding, or whats around the corner, or more shit exploding, theres just way too many. 2. The "power limit" on your helmet GPS. your helmet has a power limit for the GPS, so it turns off automatically every once in a while, then you have to wait for it to recharge, and hit the select button again.

Graphics for this game are pretty good.

Variation on the weapons is nice too. Yes, you have to buy the weapons, but there is no shortage of money. You need a new weapon? most likely youll always have the money to buy it. For instance, I kept dying at the guy with the gatling gun the first time. Pressed Y, bought the shotgun, and I was good to go. You can save your money for fun stuff too, (who wouldnt want diamond encrusted grenades?)

Well, I finished the game. Overall 7/10

Why? Well, I think the game deserves one point for every hour I played and graphics and stuff. That right, took me 5 hours. I havent tested the Versus or co-op, but I assume that its like versus and co-op on any other game. There is also a mode called extraction which I have not tried yet. I also believe there are two alternate ending. One if you get negative morality on everything like I did, and another one If you gain morality on all the others. I will not be playing through it again to find out the other ending.

Summary: If you like co-op games, this is for you. I think the only reason you would buy this game is if you liked the first one, and many lots of friends to play this on co-op with.

Overall, like Ive said for many games: RENT IT, unless you want to do co-op or versus with friends. Or, buy it and resell it. I think one of those two are your best options.

Darksiders Review/Small game Overview

Overall: 8/10

Alrighty, I finished the whole game but I am way to hellalazy to update all this. So next up on reviews will Be Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics, and then Army of 2 40th day, and then Dark Void. WOO!

I got my copy od Darksiders last night around 9: 30 pm and played til 1 this morning. You jump into the game as one of the four apocalyptic horsemen, War. Right away, War reminded me of a fully decked out Tier 5 warrior from World of Warcraft, but more kickass. The game wastes no time putting you into action and gives you a big sword to play with right away. This is a hack and slash game like Bayonetta, but I seem to like it a lot more. The flow of the game is much smoother and it actually takes some skill and thinking as your health can be depleted very quickly. There are also various elements thrown in that can be matched to zelda or metroid. One thing right away that I noticed as well, was the camera angle. Really, it is one of the only things preventing me from giving this a 10/10. It doesnt follow your movements, and when you have to fight using X and move the camera with the right stick, its a bit hard.

The game takes place in a city ravened by war between the Underworld and Heaven, and because you are of no real allegiance, you will be killing both. The game starts off simple. Get from point A to point B without dying. Later on you'll meet your first large demon, but you don't have to fight him. In this game, you are looking to find and kill "The Destroyer" and he is your ticket. He tells you to go kill 4 demons, the first, a large bat demon. This is also the point in which you get your first shop visit. I would buy the scythe right away, as it can clear large groups of enemys from around you very quickly. Here you can also but potions and skills.

So now you have to go kill this large bat demon, so what better way to get there than jacking some guys gryphon and heading to a church. This level is extremely fun as you just ride around and a gryphon and shot angels. When you arrive at the church, you use the horn of earth to move the gate, but he tells you he is held by a curse. So you have to go to these 4 portals and basically complete 4 minigames. One is kill 5 guys with a certain skill, another kill 40 enemies, another kill 50 while your health is being depleted, and last kill 30 demons with a finishing move.
After completed, the gate moves and you can enter the church. So far, I have spent 2 hours in the church alone and am currently stuck, so hopefully I can get passed what I need to.

This is as far as I am right now, and I will also be getting some game play videos with commentary up on Youtube which I will link here later.

Bayonetta

Overall: 6.5/10

I picked up my own copy of Bayonetta about two weeks ago, and hearing and seeing all the hype about this game, I was extremely excited. I popped open my tray, and started the game up. Getting into the game, I noticed two things, the difficulties: Very Easy, Easy. and Normal. Not knowing what "Automatic" meant under both the very easy and easy difficulties, I went right to normal. A screen popped up and displayed the controls. A to jump, X to shoot, Y to punch (I think), and B to kick. Right there my hype went down a bit, this game was not very complicated at all.

After playing for 15 minutes, I knew exactly what this game was. Combos showed up during loading screens, but there we so many, more than a Street Fighter game really. So 30 minutes in, my original hype for this game went WAY down. I started calling the game "The smash Y and B game" because thats all you really need to do. Boss fights are challenging especially ones with the first dragon boss. You will meet four total bosses through out the game, and then face them all again before the "pre-final boss". After an hour or so, I decided to see what this automatic option was, so I switched the game to very easy. Automatic apparently means auto dodging which will give you almost unlimited "Witch-Time" after every hit attempt by an enemy. So...overall, all this is, is another hack-and-slash game.

After a while, you reach a mission where you get to drive on a motorcycle. Fun right! Well, not so much. The level is extremely repetitive and its like the road and tunnels are stuck on a loop. The level drags on for much too long, but it does end eventually. This is sadly how it is for most levels. Kill this guy, take his weapon, kill this guy, destroy this wall, repeat. Not much variation in the game. no puzzles, side quests,or anything the deviates from the storyline. Its just one kill after another after another...for 6 hours.

If you like hack and slash games, then RENT this game. Notice i said RENT. Why? Because this game has no replay value what-so-ever. You can play it over again on harder difficulties. But really, whats the point? Your just doing the same thing again. Yep, thats it. I ended up completing the game in about 6 hours...a good way to waste some time.

The game is comprised of 16 chapters all from 15-30 minutes each depending on if you get stuck in an area or cant figure out where to go (happened a few times, such as when you first raise the statues to get witch time in the city, I didn't know you could move while the statues were up.) Like I said before, the game has no replay value, but it does have leader boards if you care about anything like that.

So on to the shop. After every chapter, you have the option to go to "The Gates of Hell". Also known as the store. You can buy new moves and alternate weapon skins as they become available. First off, buy all moves. Weapons skins are a waste of money. You can also buy potions and buffs, also a waste of money. Another way to get some of these buffs, is after every chapter you will play the mini game "Angel Attack". Get points buy shooting the angels. 5 points per kill, 10 points for a double kill. You can get buffs with these points, and exchange the rest for halos, 1k for 1 point.

Graphically, this game is amazing. The camera angles are great (most of the time), the flow is amazing, and all movements are smooth overall. It really immerses the player into the world more and makes you feel like your doing a lot with just a few button mashes. Oh yea, did I mention the hot chicks too? :D

Well, I guess thats all for this game. Main points of this:

1. Hack and slash Game
2. RENT, RENT, RENT this game. DO NOT buy it.
3. If you do buy it, please dont waste a whole $60 on it, try and wait to find it used somewhere. There are no "special grab bag" items that come with a copy of the game, so theres really no harm in waiting for the price to go down anyways.

And if your wondering about total playtime for this game: 6 hours 5 minutes 10 seconds.

Well thats all for this review, look forward to more soon!
